Grunge

Grunge is back…but not in a bad 90’s way.  More in an edgy modern way.  For this look I went more monochromatic with moody greys (another big trend for fall) and leather leggings.  I like these booties with this look because the brown straps buckled around the ankle give a more “easy” cool look and keep the look casual.  I added my “Lillith Fringe” earrings from stella and dot for a little glam factor.  I kept the rest of my jewelry minimal with a couple stacked bracelets and gold rings.  I love bringing gold in against grey as it warms it up a bit and always makes the look more lux.  Oh…and please forgive my buckle on my bootie that’s undone!  Yikes.

I held a Style Soiree event at my beautiful friend Jessica’s house on Saturday.  We had an amazing afternoon celebrating women and personal style!  I appreciated every lady who came to the event and I’m so excited to take those of you who booked consultations with me to an even greater level of style and confidence!  I unfortunately did not remember to take many photos of the event as it was an extremely busy and style packed event.  So, after the event I was able to get a couple with my twin sister (also a wardrobe stylist) who I was blessed with her being able to be there, and my good friend and generous host Jessica Taylor. : )

Runway to Realway

With fashion week over, and all of the new looks out for Spring in the magazines….I thought I would post my favorite upcoming trends and styles and show how to wear them in the reality we live in!  Which usually isn’t walking the streets of New York or  going to parties and red carpets every night.  It’s meeting up with friends for coffee, shopping, or nights out for dinner.  So here’s to being practical.  : )

1. BLACK & WHITE

For a casual but chic outfit…combine a crisp white blazer with a casual black t and cropped skinnies with heels.  Or for a dressier approach, black skirt with combined striped top and blazer for a more bold look.  Then, for the relaxed girl…go with white tuxedo pants, biker booties and black leather for that more edgy, cool girl look.

2. STATEMENT SUNGLASSES

If you love getting the latest shades, but this years statement pairs are a little too out there for you, here are a few pairs that are a little less shocking.

3. BOLD STRIPES

Try light thin striped skinny jeans with a chambray top for an easy going feel, or more bold thicker striped high waisted pants with a relaxed stweater tucked in…add a statement necklace to up the glam factor.  Then for more classic chic…black pumps, black with wide white tuxedo stripe pants and simple black top…totally put together effortlessly.

4. LUXE LEATHER

Try a black tank with a mixed material of leather in the front only for added comfort…a leather motorcycle jacket (super cute in a bright color as well) over a chic maxi, or midi dress…or my personal fave, leather leggings.  Mine are only leather in the front so it makes them a bit more unique, not to mention comfortable.  Wear with a blazer and jewelry to soften the edgyness.

5. Short Suits

So, obviously this look is more seasonal for summer (or for those that aren’t Canadians, all year) but shorts with tights are still a cute look that you can carry off right now…snow and all.  It helps while we wait for Spring to come at least…I love the polished look on the left with a more structured pair of shorts and blazer with cute heels and white sunnies (I may need to duplicate this outfit).  The chambray combo is a super cute relaxed look, with a white tee underneath and understated extras.  For that dressy day time look, classic black but with a pop of blue and some cute heels are perfect for this trend.  I also love Kate’s effortless beachy short suit…the scalloped shorts are adorable and I love the freshness this whole outfit has..add some wedge heels and you’re good to go for a night out!

So, there are five trends that you can take from the runway to realway right now.  Let me know which one is your favorite, and what you plan on wearing for Spring 2013!

On Edge.

For this photo shoot, we went outside in the snow under a little white gazebo…the weather was perfect, and I love how the lighting turned out.  I wanted to showcase the spring trend of wearing brights with black.  Of course leather leggings is a big one, and adding a little jewelry softens it up a bit.
